The username is often Administrator, and you can leave the ‘Domain’ field empty in most cases. Open RDC and enter the IP Address of your RDP VPS or server when prompted for ‘Computer’: At the next prompt, enter your server login information. I understand this being a problem if I were using a different user name & password, but since it's the same as the one I use when connecting (successfully) from my pc, I don't know how to correct it. Whichever client you choose, the connection process will be similar. But if i work from a different Network as the PC then Remote Desktop is not connection. If I connect my PC and Mac to the same Network at my office the connection runs perfectly meaning that the connection to the PC from my Mac is directly connecting with out any problem. I've figured out how to get the Remote Desktop Connection to give me a log in for our server however, when I try to log in with my user name & password, it gives me that message that I "must be granted the Allow log on through Terminal Services rights." What I don't understand is that I can still log onto my work server with my home pc using the user name & password, so why is there a problem doing the same with the Mac? I've googled & read many articles, but I can't find the answer. I have downloaded the newest Microsoft Remote Desktop application for Mac. I do have the Remote Desktop Connection Mac that came with the Microsoft Office for Mac. My company uses Windows 2003 small business server and I can log in from my home pc. I see this post is from July 2011 however, did you ever get a response to your question? I just bought a MacBook Air, and I'm having the same problem.
